CHOCOLATE BROWNIE PIE

The original version of this is to be found in the Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook my parents gave me for my 12th birthday.  Adding chocolate chips is a decadent 21st century touch.

Make pastry and line a 9” pie plate.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

1/3 cup baking cocoa, sifted
2 Tablespoons butter
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
3 eggs
½ cup sugar
¾ cup dark corn syrup or pancake syrup
½ cup chocolate chips
1 cup pecan halves or walnuts

Melt butter, add oil and stir in cocoa with a wire whisk.  Beat in eggs, sugar and syrup until well blended.  Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.  Pour into pastry-lines pie pan.  Bake 40 – 50 minutes, or until set.  Serve slightly warm or cold.  Refrigerate left-overs.
