Alice May Shore Stump’s Gumdrop Bars

These were a favorite of her daughter’s (Dorothy Stump Waterman)

Grease and flour a shallow pan, 8x14 in.
30 minutes in 350 degree oven

1 ˝  cup of sugar
˝ cup of molasses
4 eggs, beaten
1 tbs. cold water
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup chopped gumdrops (no black ones)
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
The cup of pecans can also be replaced by additional gumdrops.

Gradually add sugar, molasses, and cold water to beaten eggs.
Sift dry ingredients together over gumdrops (and nuts) and mix until each piece is coated.
Combine mixtures and stir until well blended>
Pour into greased and well-floured shallow pan.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Cut into one-inch square pieces.
