This postcard has a central portion that opens out (by means of a small, metal latch), to reveal a sheet of paper that folds out to display twelve photographic views of buildings and places within the city of Monmouth, IL. Despite its complex nature, postage would still only have been one cent, but this postcard was never mailed. The post card was issued by "The Rotograph Co., N.Y. City", and the design was patented Dec. 3, 1905, patent number 806631, postcard number 31417.
